Cry All Day - Wilco - Schmilco (File, Album)

Maybe he is just another kid from the burbs that grew up and out of them, destined to make the same exact mistakes his parents did. What is any of the effort really worth? As much as it may seem like it, Schmilco really isn't a sad record - maybe a bit melancholy at times, but certainly not hopeless.

There's a bit of meta-commentary on the record that gives the listener a sideways clue in finding the silver lining. If you don't want to hear the heavy-handed lyrics, then fine - go ahead and tune them out as you jam to a simple, wispy Wilco record in the style of their Starbucks-ready self-titled album. And then, in this way, the listener embodies the hapless father on the album cover, intent on ignoring the pain in order to preserve the inner child, joyful and doubtless.

But to really find peace with that inner child and the regenerating cycle that is legacy, you have to question yourself, you have to reevaluate, and you have to relearn. Schmilco is especially coupled with last year's Star Wars Wilco's relearning in full swing. Retrieved September 21, UK Albums Chart. Sep 06,  · Schmilco is a largely acoustic set of heartbreaking folk rock, marked by uncluttered arrangements and some of frontman Jeff Tweedy’s most personal songwriting to date—as heard in the brutal retrospection of “Normal American Kids” and the glammy warmth of “Someone to Lose.”.

  5. Cry, cry, cry all day Cry all night I had a hole in my heart, I had a "company" me It kept me whole-y from rolling Someone into something like me Something like me, you don't wanna be I cry, cry, cry all day I cry all night I cry all day And I cry, cry, cry all day Cry all night At the open mic I sing and I stall I fall on the knife However.
  6. In all manners Schmilco is an absolute extension of Star Wars, and I for one would like to see the band concentrate on songs such as “If Ever I Was A Child,” “Cry All Day,” and “We Aren’t The World (Safety Girl),” songs that feature the band’s innate ability to deliver pure fuzzed out .
  7. Star Wars was Wilco's cheerfully bent version of a summer album; Schmilco is clearly music for autumn, meant for cool nights, crunching through the leaves, and the occasional dark night of the soul. And it speaks volumes about Wilco that they could make two albums so different within such a short space of time, and both times giving us music that sounds like no one else.
  8. Schmilco is the tenth studio album by Chicago -based alternative rock band Wilco and was released on September 9, Wilco announced the album on July 19, , and released two songs, "Locator" and "If I Ever Was a Child". The album's announcement came a little more than a year after their previous studio album, Star Wars.
